Martin Van Buren Liberty Gold Coins

Martin Van Buren Liberty Gold Coin features the late president, Martin Van Buren. Martin Van Buren is the 8th president of the United States. He was born on the 5th December 1782. Unlike the previous president, he doesn’t have British or Irish descent. Before he became a president, he was the secretary of state. Later, he became the vice president.

The Martin Van Buren Liberty Gold Coin is the 8th First Spouse Gold Coins series. The coin features the Lady Liberty in order to meet the requirement of the Coin Act 2005. Martin Van Buren was married to Hannah Hoes. Hannah came from a small community in Kinderhook. Since they were cousins, they knew each other quite well. After Martin became a practicing lawyer, he married Hannah Hoes. Both of them were 24 years old at the time of the marriage. Hannah had six children. One of the sons died during infancy. The daughter died while in the uterus of her mother. Hannah served as a hostess during the president administration of her husband. She also dedicated much of her time at the church. The birth of her last son caused her to become weak. She died after she was contracted with tuberculosis.

His wife, Hannah Van Buren died on 1819. After her death, martin did not remarry another woman. He became a widow for 18 years before receiving the presidential mark on 1837. The United States Mint is responsible of producing the Martin Van Buren Liberty Coins. The Gold Coins were made available to the public on the 25th November 2008.

The obverse side of the coin shows the image of Liberty Seated Dime. The Liverty Seated Dime was designed by a skilled artist during the presidential term of Martin Van Buren. There are several inscriptions on the obverse side including 8th Presidency and the presidency term of “1837 – 1841”. It also features the common terms that appeared on other coins such as “Liberty” and “In God We trust”. The obverse design features the mintage marking of W.

The reverse design features a young Martin Van Buren reading a book under a tree. Thomas Cleveland designed the image on the reverse side of the coin. The inscriptions on the reverse side of the coin include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and the ten dollar face value. Just like other gold coins, it features the half oz. gold content and “.9999 Fine Gold” purity.

The United States Mint created two versions including proof and uncirculated versions. The proof version was sold for $549.95 while the uncirculated version was sold for $524.95. The pricing of the gold coin is adjusted a number of times because the rate of the gold in the market keep changing. The production of the Martin Van Buren Liberty Coins was halted permanently on the 3rd December 2009. The production of the coin was halted because of the low sales figure. According to the sales report, the total sales of the coin are less than 12,000.
