Julia Gardiner Tyler First Spouse Gold Coins

Julia Gardiner Tyler is the second wife of President John Tyler. President John Tyler married her after his first wife died. It is the 11th series of the First Spouse gold coin series. The first spouse of John Tyler is Letitia Tyler. Letitia Tyler died after she suffered from a stroke. A few months after Letitia’s death, John met Julia. Julia’s family had participated in an excursion on a steam ship called Princeton. While at the ship, Julia’s father and several people died due to the gun explosion. Julia was very disappointed that her parents died during the excursion. Tyler was grief about the event and he comforted Julia. Julia and John Tyler were married at a private wedding ceremony in the New York City. Julia is 30 years younger than John Tyler.

Julia Gardiner has a gentle personality. She had helped the president to annex Texas. The president gave credit to Julia for helping him to annex Texas. After he had signed the resolution, he offers her the gold pen which he had used to sign the agreement.

Julia Gardiner is only the First Wife for 8 months. She established the tradition of playing the song “Hail to the Chief” by James Sanderson. The song was played to make an announcement of the president. After the president retired from his duty, he went to live in Sherwood Forest with his wife. Sherwood Forest is located in Virginia. Julia Gardiner had seven children with John Tyler. After John died, Julia shifted to New York due to the civil war. Julia became bankrupt after the civil war and was looked after by her children. Later, the Congress offers a pension for the presidents’ widows. Julia died when she was 69 years old. She was buried next to John in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

The United States Mint released the series on the 6th August 2009. Julia Gardiner Tyler was married to the president on the 26th Hyne in 1844. She was born the 4th May 1820. Though she only carried the First Spouse title for 8 months, she was an influential figure in history. She had requested the song called “Hail to the Cheif” to play during the president’s arrival. She received education when she was a child. She showed support for her husband by upholding the political agenda of her husband.

The designer of the obverse side of the coin is Joel Iskowitz. Don Everhart sculptures the portrait of the obverse of Julia Gardiner Tyler First Spouse Gold Coin. There are several inscriptions on the coins including Julia Tyler, year she held the title as First Spouse, presidency year and mint year. The designs of the reverse side of the Julia Gardiner Tyler First Spouse Gold Coins are also sculpted by Don Everhart. The inscriptions on the reverse side of the coin have inscriptions such as United States of America and E Pluribus Unum. There is a $10 denomination on the reverse side of the coin. It has a gold content of ½ oz. The purity of the gold coin, which was defined as “0.9999 Fine Gold” can be seen on the reverse side of the coin as well.
