Andrew Jackson Liberty Gold Coins

Andrew Jackson Liberty Gold Coins is the third production in the First Spouse Gold Coins Series. It was distributed to the general public on the 8th August 2008. The United States Mint is responsible for circulating the coins. Andrew Jackson Liberty Gold Coins features Andrew Jackson, the 7th American president. The presidency term of Andrew Jackson is 1829 – 1837. He held the position as the army commander in 1815. He is also the Military Governor of Florida in 1821.

He plays an important role during the Jacksonian Democracy era. In the Jacksonian Democracy ara, he use his political philosophy to influence the people. He is well known as an American hero that has undergone many sufferings. He had participated in several wards to fight against the British Army so he was dubbed the nickname Old Hickory.

The spouse of Andrew Jackson is Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson. Andrew Jackson was married to Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson in 1794. However, Rachel passed away in 1828. Rachel died a few months before Andrew officially became the president of the United States. As a result, the capped bust lettered edge half dollar is featured on the obverse side of the coin. The liberty image on the coin was designed by John Reich. John Reach, a U.S. mint engraver, engraved the design in between 1807 – 1836. The inscriptions on the obverse side of the coin include Liberty, In God We Trust and the mintage year 2008. In addition, the presidential term “1829 – 1837” and presidency year (7th) are also inscribed on the coin.

The reverse side of the coin is designed by Justin Kunz. After that, Don Everhart sculpted the design on the reverse side of the coin. The nickname of Andrew Jackson “Old Hickory” was inscribed on the coin. The reverse design features Andrew Jackson sitting on a horse. The inscriptions on the reverse side of the coin include United States of America, e Pluribus Unum, and $10 face value. It also states that the gold content of the coin is ½ oz. Just like other gold coins, the purity statement, “.9999 Fine Gold” was inscribed on it.

The United States Mint had created two versions of the coin including proof and uncirculated versions. The proof version of the Andrew Jackson Liberty Gold Coin is sold at $619.95 while the uncirculated version is sold at $599.95. Later, the prices of the proof and uncirculated versions of the Andrew Jackson Liberty First Spouse is adjusted in reactions to the volatile rate of the gold price. The United States Mint offers a maximum mintage of forty thousand coins for both the proof and uncirculated versions. The total numbers of sales made for the proof version is 7805. The number of sales for the uncirculated version is 4.754 coins. The sales figure for the proof and uncirculated versions is up to the early September 2009.

The Andrew Jackson Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin has a reeded edge. It has a weight of 0.5 troy oz. It has a diameter of 26.49 mm. The thickness of the coin is 1.88 mm.
